Negatives (no, not) can be made in several ways.
1. Imperfect and Furture Mode: Use g’ushta (Kenai) or nch’u (Tyonek, Nondalton, Lime Village) with a z prefix.
Nchu’/g’ushta zgheshyul = I am not walking
Nch’u/g’ushta tezgheshyul = I will not walk
2. Perfect Mode: Use g’ushta (Kenai) or nch’u (Tyonek, Nondalton, Lime Village) with an ‘i’ prefix.
Nchu’ ti’eshyul = I didn’t leave
3. Add –a to the end of the verb, reversing the action of the verb.
Ch’eqenaxa = don’t talk
